Polys reward fast, modern strokes with bite and life. They play firmer — if your arm complains, look at multis, gut, or hybrids.

Who should string poly?
- You take full cuts and want the ball to dip with topspin.
- You break softer strings quickly.
- You are okay restringing as poly “goes dead†before it snaps.
Gauge guidance (poly)
- 15L / 16 (thicker): more durability, slightly less bite — good for heavy breakers.
- 16L / 17 (≈1.25–1.20 mm): common club sweet spot for spin + manageable life.
- 17L / 18 (thinner): more snap and feel, usually shorter life — e.g. Yonex Poly Tour Pro 18 class.
Typical tension ranges (educational)
Many poly players sit mid-frame (often roughly the middle of the racket’s printed range). Arm-sensitive players often go lower rather than cranking tension for “control.†Confirm with your stringer — these are general knowledge notes, not a prescription for your frame.

Often before it snaps. If the pocket feels boardy and launch angle changes, restring — especially with full poly.
Full poly vs hybrid?
Full poly maximizes spin/control for strong swingers. If your arm complains, move to poly mains + multi crosses or a softer multi.
What gauge should I buy?
