Junior stringing vs adult rec

Same strings. Different job. Kids usually want comfort. Rec adults split between a plush multi and a softer poly if they already hit out.

Juniors

Comfort and a thinner, softer bed. Multifilament, not a full stiff poly. Growing arms do not need ALU Power or Hyper-G to "keep up." They need the ball to come off the strings without a board-like response.

What I put in a real junior racket is Wilson NXT 17. 17 ga plays a little livelier and softer than 16. You restring more often than poly. That is the trade, and it is the right one for most kids. Ranked write-up: junior pick.

This note is standard tennis string, not stage-ball or foam-ball kits. Those are a different product.

Adult recreation

If you just want the ball in: start multi. HEAD Velocity MLT is the rec winner. X-One if they want a nicer multi. Do not sell Velocity as a spin string.

If you already hit out and break soft string every other week: a kinder poly such as Tour Bite Soft 16L is the step up. Still a poly. Still not an arm-rehab string. Full ALU / Hyper-G is for people who already hit through the ball. See 4.0+.
